Angelika Richter, born 1969 in Gladbeck (NRW, Germany), lives and works as a visual artist and freelance architect in Düsseldorf. Her artistic focus is on abstract painting and drawing.
After graduating in interior design (1995) and architecture (1998) from the Peter Behrens School of Architecture in Düsseldorf, she worked as an architect in Düsseldorf and London from 1995 to 2003. In 2004, she moved to Berlin and worked there as a freelance architect until 2013, before returning to Düsseldorf in 2014.
From 2012, Angelika Richter deepened her artistic work with courses in life drawing, nude studies and performances at the Enrico Pietracci studio and with Vessela Posner at the Berlinische Galerie and Aktsalon Berlin. From 2013 to 2017, she continued this path at the Freie Akademie für Malerei with Jens Kilian in Düsseldorf. She continually scrutinises her artistic expression and techniques and develops them further, including in regular free painting workshops with the artist Evelina Velkaite between 2016 and 2018.
Angelika Richter is a member of the Bundesverband Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler (BBK) and is registered in the artists’ register of the state capital Düsseldorf. She regularly presents her work to a wide audience in exhibitions, including her participation in the juried NRW 2022 state art exhibition at the Dortmunder U / Museum Ostwall and the Huntenkunst art fair in the Netherlands. Since 2020, she has presented her artistic work at the annual Kunstpunkte in Düsseldorf and participated in exhibitions at the BBK Kunstforum. In 2023 she was a member of the jury and curatorial team of the traditional academy exhibition ‘fresh positions’ of the BBK Düsseldorf.
